Zachary Stevens's Story

I was 13 years old the first time I had one. I opened my eyes and was paralyzed. I felt what I can only describe as hooves on my chest. I couldn’t see the creature, but somehow could tell it was only three feet or so tall. It was calling my name in a male voice. The voice wasn’t ominous sounding, it was quite calm and soothing. It leaned forward and touched foreheads with me. All I could see where it’s pure red eyes. Zachary……….Zachary……………Zachary……..etc.

There are names for this being in many cultures around the world. I’ve had many out of body experiences during sleep paralysis. A friend of mine is part Inuit and he told me that his Inuit relatives believe that this being comes to you in times when you are weak.

I’m 40 years old now and I experience sleep paralysis when I’m stressed out or haven’t slept much. My sister has sleep paralysis as well. My mother has night terrors which are far worse.

Stephany Gomer's Story

I’ve had this happen a few times, usually during naps and I’m always sleeping on my back. The scariest was having a witch lean over my bed and kind of laughing at me. I couldn’t scream and was completely paralyzed. I couldn’t move my arms or legs.. they felt soo heavy. I told myself to fall all the way asleep, not fight it and she would go away. That’s all I really remember!

Bryan Bonner's Story

A woman who claimed that she was visited by a Ghostly cat every night after she went to sleep. This was an interesting one because the symptoms were very sleep paralysis like but seemed to be increased by the inclusion of an amazing cocktail of pharmaceuticals that she took just before bed.

I have had similar instances but never felt there was an evil presence when it happened…it was more like being aware of your surroundings knowing that you are asleep and can sense everything around you but you’re just not able to wake up …really weird feeling that’s all I can say!

Eddie's Story

My “episodes” were much more frequent in college and still occur from time to time, usually when I am particularly stressed. It’s always the same. I wake up, and I can see directly in front of me (I’m usually lying down on my side). Once awake, I can hear someone(thing) in my room, moving very slowly from the doorway to the bed. Then I feel it sit down on the bed and the mattress slowly sink with its weight. During longer or more intense occurrences, it will grab my ankles and attempt to pull my body to the foot of the bed, or simply move close to my face so I can feel it breathing on me. I have never seen what it is, though; only feel it. It’s happened so often that now when it happens, I’m positive it’s not going to hurt me, but I get the feeling that it’s not because it doesn’t WANT to, but because it can’t for some reason, so that knowledge doesn’t take away from the horror of it. Once I shake the paralysis and it’s gone, I’m always left with the same doubt: did it really happen or not? I’m so happy this movie is being made because, scary or not, it’s bringing the subject of SP to the forefront. (Plus, I loved Final Destination). Go Jeffrey Reddick!
